BLOCKLAND

Blockland was the first game I took part in with a barebones engine (back then known as the DigiPen Alpha Engine). We developed it as part of the GAM course in our second semester at DigiPen. The game is a 2D puzzle platformer where the player has to manipulate the world around themselves in order to reach the goal, they do this by clicking and reversing the state of the tiles around the mouse (solid becomes air, air becomes solid).

As a member of the team, I was in charge of:

  • Player Controller
  • Pause Menu Logic
  • Highscores Management and arcade-style three letter input
  • Game Object Manager
  • Collision Detection
  • Level Unlocking and level selection screen
  • I also contributed some placeholder artwork that ended up making it to the final cut (namely the game logo and the locked symbol for locked levels)

Languages:

  • C style C++
